WATCH: Hurlacrosse

Watch as the two fastest field sports go head to head in a fast-paced, high action, high adrenaline hybrid match. The OC Wild Geese Hurling squad take on Concordia University Irvine Lacrosse team in a compromised rules match on LMU campus.

Hurling vs. Lacrosse, or Hurlacrosse, is a compromised rules game where one hurling team plays against one lacrosse team, using their respective sports sticks.

The intention of this game is to celebrate the multi-sport athlete by choosing the best elements of each sport and to demonstrate the similarities of both games in sporting heritage and culture. We hosted North America’s first Hurling vs. Lacrosse match last year, as part of Ireland Week, which helped get it to Croke Park during the summer at the GAA World Games.

PLAY: Gaelic Football

Following on from that starting around 2.30pm, it’ll be time to re-enact the glory of Dublin’s historic 5th All Ireland Championship in a row and join our social adult game of Gaelic Football!

The LA Cougars will be hosting a full 13 a side game where kicking points from outlandish positions is to be attempted and encouraged. All adult attendees are invited to participate regardless of skill level. Coed teams of players will be split evenly, have their own coach and operate with a rolling subs system so everyone can get a run, try out multiple positions and take as-needed breaks for a cup of tea and a chat to their fans on the sideline!

KIDS: Gaelic Fun and Games

Calling all Cougar Cubs and anyone with some high-energy kids who need running around! The LA Cougars GFC & Play Hurling Los Angeles both have a set of youth gear designed for ages 3-12 and will have a coaches leading games in it’s designated area from 2pm until all kids are properly introduced to Gaelic Games and ready for a nap!
